Currently we are connected via a symmetrical Internet line (4 Mb download speed and 4 Mb upload speeds).
We also have a backup Internet connection and router. This means that should the router stop working or the main line be down, the secondary router will automatically take over.
What’s more we are interconnected, via a private virtual network, to a data centre hosting several of our servers, located in Paris and connected via a 100 Mb link.
An integrated management application (on Intranet): provides smoother processes and improved productivity from each member of staff, reduced risk of error and other benefits.
A secure file exchange platform (by FTP server): for handling heavy or particularly confidential files. Each client contact we work with will be assigned a personal username and password.
Files can also be compressed and encrypted with a password for maximum security.
We also have an on-line platform for quote requests on our website. We issue quotes within the hour.
Multilingual translation, website localisation, editing, interpreting, page layout/DTP and more, we offer every link in the translation service chain.
As such, we can handle files in any format (see a non-exhaustive list below):
|Category||Extensions||Type of documents||Action required|
|Office applications||.rtf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx (+OpenOffice)||Press releases, reports, presentations, articles, financial statements||No need for DTP services (unless files contain uneditable images): our translators will work in the files in their original format.|
|Web||.php, .xml, .html (and back office)||Websites, on-line forms, newsletters||Translation performed directly in a back office system.
.php, .xml, .html: our Web Engineering department will prepare the files to hide tags. The translators then translate the files and our web engineers then check the structure of the files before delivery.
|Design/DTP||.jpeg, .tif; .eps, .ai,
.indd, .idml, .qxd, .qxp
|Flyers, leaflets, brochures||DTP work needed: a graphic designer will resize the translations in the layouts. We will deliver a PDF for validation and then a final mock-up for sign off from you.|
As part of our customer service, we have instated an on-line application clients can use to find information about their projects.
Data on this extranet is updated daily at 7.15 am, 1.15 pm and 7.15 pm.
You can therefore consult the following around the clock:
- the list of all your quotes, signed or pending
- your projects in translation or editing, awaiting billing…
- the statistics of your account (number of words translated by language, by field, etc.)
Computer Assisted Translation (CAT)
We use CAT tools for projects that require them, expanding our translation memories and terminology bases with every request.
!! CAT tools are not automatic translation tools !!
- Terminology consistency;
- Faster turnaround;
- Potential cost reductions (we apply a repetition rate when calculating prices);
- Re-use of your translated documents;
- Integration of a client’s terminology preferences and correction project by project.
We mainly use software developed by SDL, but we have the capacity to adapt and use any other software as required by the client (Wordfast, Passolo, QT Linguist and others). We have our own in-house Engineering/CAT department which is an essential link in our quality assurance chain.
Each member of our team is trained in SDL Studio. While this software is intuitive, we feel that it is important every employee receives training.
Back Office for website translation
Our technical infrastructure is set up to easily use online products and our team is familiar with them. We are frequently asked to work in our clients’ Back Office systems (WordPress, Typo3 and Drupal to name a few).
We have a proxy and a firewall installed, which, by default, blocks unauthorised addresses and ports, but since they are fully administered internally, they can be unblocked as and when required.
